JOB SUMMARY

As a part of CASASC’s Education team, the Educator supports our goal to increase the personal safety of individuals through awareness, education and empowerment, which will help to prevent sexual violence.

The Educator is a liaison between CASASC, community, schools and organizations, focusing on prevention and awareness education for children, youth, and adults. Our community and school-based programs are delivered to a range of individuals mainly from Kindergarten to Grade 12, but also to parents, adults and professionals.

This position provides in-person and virtual education sessions on a variety of content and topics focusing on violence prevention and sexual violence awareness, sessions are adaptable to meet the needs of community and school.

This position is part of the Education & Community Relations team. Educators may be expected to fulfill duties related to community relationship building, including attending meetings and events, staffing booths and conducting community visits. Educators are responsible for preparation, delivery, and follow-up of all applicable education programs as determined by CASASC and the Manager, Education & Community Relations.

The Educator is expected to have full knowledge of, and to follow the Philosophy, the Guidelines for Personnel Policies & Practices, and the Policies & Procedures of the CASASC while upholding our mission, vision, and values.

 

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s degree in education or other relevant degree and/or 2+ years of related teaching experience.
  • Exceptional presentation & public speaking skills.
  • Experience working in, facilitating, or teaching in classroom and group settings.
  • Ability to build rapport with children and youth from Kindergarten to Grade 12.
  • Ability to relate to adults and professionals for the successful delivery of education and awareness information.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English is essential.
  • Able to work collaboratively in a team environment and/or independently.
  • Superior time management skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient using computers and presentation equipment (incl. basic troubleshooting) of virtual and presentation platforms (zoom, google meet, projector, and sound setup).
  • Proficient in Windows, Word, Internet, Email & Social Media is essential.
  • Availability to work occasional evenings/weekends for special events and be able to travel within Central Alberta to fulfil job responsibilities.

  • Must be able to submit a clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.
  • A valid Driver’s License with a satisfactory Driver’s abstract is essential, access to a reliable vehicle with full cover insurance.
  • Should be able to fulfil the physical demands of the job such as the ability to lift at least 20lbs, climbing the stairs while carrying supplies, above-shoulder lifting, overhead reaching, frequent use of office equipment, sitting or standing for longer periods and other relevant physical tasks.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan, prepare and deliver all CASASC education programs by providing interactive and dynamic presentations, and education material by using age-appropriate methods and activities, either in-person or virtual; in schools and communities throughout the CASASC service region.
  • Design and deliver tailored education programs as/if requested by the schools, community and/or other agencies within CASASC’s service region.
  • Participate in community public education forums and/or events to promote the awareness of sexual violence issues & CASASC services. (Attending interagency meeting, staffing booths and events, conducting community visits)
  • Update education programs statistics in the tracking program and submit monthly/quarterly/annual reports to facilitate grants and internal requirements.
  • Conduct regular research and keep education programs’ content up-to-date related to CASASC’s prevention education such as (but not limited to) sexual violence, teen dating, consent, healthy relationships, and any other program that supports CASASC’s mission and vision.
  • Keep the schools and community contact list up-to-date. Stay in regular contact with the schools and community through different mediums to ensure the regular delivery of education programs to the target audience.
  • Perform other duties or tasks that may be assigned on an as-needed basis by the Manager or Executive Director.

  • Adheres to the values and guiding principles, policies, and procedures of CASASC and supports the strategic direction of the organization.
  • Participates in staff meetings and offered trainings.
  • Acts as a responsible team member by demonstrating initiative, completing work duties, and by maintaining clear, direct, and respectful communication with everyone in the work environment.
  • Proactively stays current with best and emerging practices in the field. Participates regularly in the staff development activities according to a learning and development plan identified through supervision and the on-going performance review process.
  • Provides back-up coverage to CASASC as required in response to the needs and priorities of the organization which includes other duties as and when assigned.

  • Represents CASASC in a professional manner.

JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Fund Development Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and/or organizing fundraising events. Identifying, soliciting, and securing funds for the organization and ensuring fundraising events are carefully planned and executed to maximize financial support. This role will also be responsible to identify and apply for grant opportunities.

 

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Certificate/Diploma/Degree in event management, finance, fund development, or other related field with 2-4 years experience working in a similar capacity.
  • Experience working in non-profit industry will be an asset.
  • Must have experience in fundraising for non-profit organizations.
  • Experience in grant writing, developing fund applications, or other technical writing.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent time management skills – able to set priorities and working without supervision.
  • Ability to work as a collaborative team member as well as an independent key player within minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrates creativity in coming up with fundraising opportunities and executing events successfully.
  • Valid driver’s license, satisfactory driver’s abstract and clear criminal record check screening is required.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists in the development of fundraising goals, research potential funding sources and creates and executes fund development plans to meet the goals.
  • Plans, coordinates, and execute fundraising events and activities from start to end.
  • Identifies federal, provincial, and/or private funding opportunities, writes effective grant proposals and applies for the same to secure the grants.
  • Assists the Executive director with creating budgets based upon anticipated fundraising results.
  • Identifies and solicits new donors, takes initiative to negotiate funding.
  • Works in collaboration with the communications department to promote CASASC’s fundraising events.
  • Maintains positive relations and communications with donors, sponsors, and stakeholders.
  • Process donations and/or sponsorships ad manages database (digital and paper files). Ensure that the records are kept up to date.

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Executive Director & Management within CASASC, the summer student position could provide support to one or more of the following areas:

  • day-to-day support for Marketing and Communication activities to the organization as per the responsibilities of the role and ensure confidentiality, prompt communication, and resourcefulness. The role provides expertise and timely fulfillment of tasks related to supporting social media aspect of our organization.

The Communications Specialist is a cooperative team member of CASASC responsible to implement and execute a variety of internal and external communication activities.

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Communications Specialist will work collaboratively with management team, staff, volunteers, and the community to develop and implement communications strategies which will broaden CASASC’s impact and facilitate the achievement of CASASC’s vision and mission.

The Communications Specialist involves in continuous quality improvement by providing support to the Executive Director and contribute to the efficient day-to-day communications operations of the organization. The goal of this position is to increase brand awareness and funding opportunities.

 

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Post-secondary Degree or education with a focus on communications, professional writing, journalism, public relations, or similar discipline.
  • 2-4 years direct experience with non-profit organization in a communication and marketing role.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate messages in a professional and engaging manner.
  • Knowledge, understanding and interest in sexual violence prevention and related issues.
  • Exceptional organizational abilities and time management skills, ability to meet deadlines, multi-task and prioritize workload.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Communication Strategy and Brand Oversight

  • Implement and integrate strategic communication plans to advance CASASC’s brand identity, broaden awareness of its resources and supports, and increase visibility to all key stakeholders.
  • Work as internal and external brand ambassador.
  • Design and implement marketing and public relations strategies that will allow CASASC’s leadership to cultivate and enhance meaningful relationships with target audience, including funding partners, media, and key influencers of the community.
  • Monitor analytics and create reports detailing the successes and failures of communications campaigns and strategies.
  • Coordinate volunteers, support staff, vendors and more to support promotional events.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES: Marketing, Public Relations and Advocacy

  • Assist in the development of CASASC’s internal and external communications including, but not limited to communication media plans, and marketing collateral materials. This includes writing, editing, and designing.
  • Create and coordinate brand awareness content for the organization on multiple social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, CASASC’s official website, E-newsletter, and/or print media and promote CASASC’s mission and vision.
  • Assist the Executive Director and coordinate other members of the team in fundraising events and activities.
  • Prepare and submit periodic reports on communication metrics and analytics.
  • Support Executive Director with media interactions that help promote CASASC’s brand awareness in the community.
  • Exercise judgement to prioritize media opportunities, prepare speeches, presentations, and other supporting material as needed for the Executive Director or other staff members when needed.
  • Actively engage, cultivate, and manage press relationships to ensure coverage surrounding CASASC’s programs, special events, public announcements, and other projects.

JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Clinical Manager, the Counsellor will provide crisis, short-term and long-term counselling services to those affected by sexual violence, regardless of the length of time since the trauma incident.

The role of the counsellor is to provide individual or group sessions to support personal coping skills and accelerate recovery in those who are experiencing the effects of trauma.

 

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Degree in Psychology, Social Work, and Sociology or related degree is required. Preference will be given to those with professional registration, those with clinical experience and/or those enrolled in a Master’s or Post Graduate Program in Counselling.
  • Experience working with survivors of sexual abuse, sexual violence, domestic violence, and/or mental health will be considered an asset.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent time management skills – able to set priorities and working without supervision.
  • Ability to mediate disputes, solve problems, and be resourceful under pressure.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to recognize and utilize coping skills to mitigate the impact of vicarious trauma.
  • Crisis Intervention and Trauma Informed training will be considered an asset.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide crisis intervention, problem solving, and/or psycho-educational supports to individuals, groups, and/or families.
  • Provide goal directive supportive counselling in the client’s preferred format (face-to- face, by telephone, or by video chat).
  • Ensure safety planning is provided to according to agency standards.
  • Provide community information, referrals, and services by accompaniment, in accordance with agency and professional standards.
  • Adhere to the code of ethics and standards of practice of both the agency and the applicable professional regulatory body.
  • Maintain digital records of topics covered and results of individual and/or group counselling activities in accordance with agency standards.
  • Maintain up-to-date digital records.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan, prepare and deliver all CASASC education programs by providing interactive and dynamic presentations, and education material by using age-appropriate methods and activities, either in-person or virtual; in schools and communities throughout the CASASC service region.
  • Design and deliver tailored education programs as/if requested by the schools, community and/or other agencies within CASASC’s service region.
  • Participate in community public education forums and/or events to promote the awareness of sexual violence issues & CASASC services. (Attending interagency meeting, staffing booths and events, conducting community visits)
  • Update education programs statistics in the tracking program and submit monthly/quarterly/annual reports to facilitate grants and internal requirements.
  • Conduct regular research and keep education programs’ content up-to-date related to CASASC’s prevention education such as (but not limited to) sexual violence, teen dating, consent, healthy relationships, and any other program that supports CASASC’s mission and vision.
  • Keep the schools and community contact list up-to-date. Stay in regular contact with the schools and community through different mediums to ensure the regular delivery of education programs to the target audience.
  • Perform other duties or tasks that may be assigned on an as-needed basis by the Manager or Executive Director.

JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Clinical Manager, the Police and Court Support Worker is primarily responsible for helping individuals navigate the criminal justice process including police investigations, preliminary hearings and trials and other supports as well as building relationships with local law enforcement, VA, Crown and health stakeholders.

The Police and Court Support Worker advocates for victims/survivors of sexual assault, their families and significant others through the court system and follow up as well as debrief and counselling referrals.

 

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Diploma in Social Work, Psychology, Justice Studies and/or a related degree.
  • 2 years minimum working experience in Human Services sector. Experience in the areas of sexual violence and/or justice system is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of sexual violence and the criminal justice system.
  • Knowledge of community supports and resources to better support clients.
  • Work experience with Indigenous communities, including protocol, to be able to develop and implement worksite initiatives.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with professionals from other legal disciplines.
  • Crisis Intervention Training and working proficiency of other languages will be considered an asset.
  • Must produce an approved Police Record Check including Vulnerable sector and screening.
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License, a Driver’s Abstract completed results of which must be satisfactory, access to a reliable vehicle with full cover insurance.
  • Ability to travel to outlying communities within Central Alberta.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide information regarding victim’s/survivor’s rights and options regarding legal and medical issues.
  • Provide supports to victims/survivors of sexual assault such as court preparation, court support including accompaniment.
  • Preparation of reports for legal or therapeutic purposes.

JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Clinical Manager, the Child Counsellor will provide crisis, short-term and long-term counselling services to those affected by sexual violence, regardless of the length of time since the trauma incident.

The role of the child counsellor is to provide individual or group sessions to support personal coping skills and accelerate recovery in those who are experiencing the effects of trauma.

 

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Degree in Psychology, Social Work, and Sociology; or related diploma required. Preference given to those with professional registration, clinical experience and/or currently enrolled in a Master’s degree or Post-Graduate program in Counselling.
  • Superior organizational & computer skills.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of counselling skills and clinical practice as it relates to children and youth.
  • Minimum 1 year experience in related field.
  • Experience with Case Management and Caseload Planning.
  • Experience working with survivors of sexual abuse, sexual violence, domestic violence, and/or mental health will be considered an asset.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide play therapy and other modalities of therapy to children aged 3 to 18 years old dealing with a variety of issues including sexual trauma and sexualized behaviour concerns.
  • Work with parents and families providing support, counselling, and education to best meet the needs of the children.
  • Provide goal directive supportive counselling in the client’s preferred format (face-to-face, by telephone, or by video chat).
  • Ensure safety planning is provided to according to agency standards
  • Provide community information, referrals, and services by accompaniment, in accordance with agency and professional standards.
  • Adhere to the code of ethics and standards of practice of both the agency and the applicable professional regulatory body.
  • Maintain digital records of topics covered and results of individual and/or group counselling activities in accordance with agency standards.
  • Maintain up-to-date records in computer-based system.
  • Assist with crisis calls/webchats/texts, intakes, walk-ins, and/or visitor inquiries.

JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the KIP Team-lead and responsible to the Executive Director, The KIP Community Outreach Facilitator works in partnership with the KIP Team-Lead to achieve the objectives of the Project, the prevention of sexual assault incidents within the Indigenous Juvenile population in Central Alberta. This involves evidence-based early intervention for issues including childhood sexual behavior concerns. The overall goal / objective of the project is to utilize a multi-systemic approach.

 

QUALIFICATION & SKILLS

– Bachelor’s in social work, Psychology or equivalent preferred. (A combination of education and relevant experience may be considered)

– At least 2 years of experience working in similar industry will be considered as an asset or a combination of education, knowledge, aptitude, and skills.

– Have a passion to work with Indigenous Community.

-Must have high cultural awareness and sensitivity.

– Must have excellent interpersonal skills and business development acumen.

– Must be empathic and have ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with community partners, clients, CASASC team members and other stake holders.

– Must have proficient computer skills (MS Office), database management programs, reporting skills.
