If you would like to have this update emailed to you each month please send us a note at education@casasc.ca and we’d be happy to add you to the list.
May is Sexual Violence Awareness Month
In Alberta, May is dedicated as Sexual Violence Awareness Month (SVAM). The goal of SVAM is to raise public awareness about sexual violence in a non-scary way. To educate communities on how to incorporate prevention into their daily lives, empowering children, youth and adults to get involved in social action projects.
We know that one month alone isn’t enough to solve the widespread issue of sexual violence; help us use this opportunity to expend prevention efforts throughout the year.
Sexual violence continues to increase be a concern. Sexual violence is often a taboo topic and the issue has been pushed into the back, dark crevasse of society.
Sexual violence needs to be addressed and a message of hope needs to be relayed to survivors. This is why we rise – to empower, to support, to inspire and to show respect.
Join us all month for SVAM activities, education opportunities and awareness messages.
Find more details about SVAM here.

CASASC + Survivors of sexual violence in Alberta need your help
CASASC has joined the AASAS membership in a call to action to the Provincial Government for increased funding. This campaign is called #SupportSurvivorsAB. We need your help in getting the message out.
1.8 million Albertans have experienced sexual violence in their lifetime. After finding the courage to disclose their experience, survivors are currently waiting more than one year for specialized counselling.
Help us help millions of Albertans by contacting your MLA–tell them sustainably funding specialized sexual assault support services is a PRIORITY. Survivors found the courage to tell; they shouldn’t have to wait a year for support.

A Season of Giving
We’ve launched our first holiday gift giving campaign.
We know that during this holiday time of year community members often reach out and support causes close to their heart.
Sexual violence impacts a large portion of our population. As individuals who have been targeted by the violence or as individuals who know of and support others who have been impacted.
Help give Central Albertans affected by sexual violence a voice and a choice on their healing journey.
